The James Bond lore is about travel, luxury, risk, reward and fast cars — and in recent years about change and progress. The panache, class and thrill of the series has outlived many other movie series and genres — one can’t imagine a spaghetti western (with a Morricone score to equal a Bond theme) being as anticipated, nor can one imagine a Captain America movie having a presidential red carpet in 2070. Yet, the gentlemen’s spy is still gracing the eyes of royalty, driving Aston Martin, expensive watches and even sunglasses sales. This is partly due to Bond being far more than just a spy; he has become an institution to mirror aspirational trends.

The 25th film in the James Bond franchise, No Time to Die, is set to be released after an 18-month postponement. The Royal Premiere took place on Tuesday and SA audiences will be able to watch the film in October.

Now, from Her Majesty’s Royal Mint is a coin collection to get your Goldfingers onto, the limited edition three-coin series includes iconic imagery from the franchise. When placed together, the three coins showcase the iconic 007 configuration with the Aston Martin DB5, the “Wet Nellie”, a submersible Lotus Esprit S1 and a tuxedo (probably from Saville Row). The SA Gold Coin Exchange and the Scoin Shop have exclusive distribution of all three coins; unfortunately, the first two coins in the series have already sold out.

“I grew up with James Bond, and like most boys loved the action sequences, car chases and explosions. I have also noticed the tremendous commercial exposure this movie has generated; a 007 Omega Seamaster, Adidas Sneakers and a limited edition [Land] Rover Defender! This three-coin series is a stylish celebration of the sexy, witty and robust James Bond and makes a great addition to any collection … whether an established collector or someone just starting out; the silver coins are also a perfect gift for all Bond fans,” says Rael Demby, CEO of The SA Gold Coin Exchange and Scoin Shop.

The full range of coins includes a variety of alloys, weights and denominations and is exclusive to The SA Gold Coin Exchange and the Scoin Shop.
