Intimately woven into the Louis Vuitton brand’s DNA is a passionate link with travel. Its iconic luggage and travel trunks ignite the imagination as they summon the old-school glamour of the Grand Tour and the luxury of time spent aboard a ship, making your way to your final destination in a rather stately fashion. With this spirit in mind, the house has commissioned a series of design objects from internationally renowned designers every year since 2012 for its Objets Nomades Collection.

This year’s inspiration was: “A journey east, a summer dinner with friends, a walk on the beach. We imagined this project as a collection of memories woven into a lantern. An intimate and personal object to keep with you to gently illuminate precious moments,” explain the design duo Giorgia Zanellato and Daniele Bortotto.

The lantern’s honeycomb casing in tones of pistachio and red berries in Louis Vuitton leather houses a rechargeable LED light and a frosted-glass, handblown bulb. Conceived to evoke long, balmy evenings spent in happy communion under the stars, the portable light also features clever details inspired by Louis Vuitton handbags, including the carrying strap and the three brass “feet” that protect the base’s leather covering from scratches.
