We’re #TBT-ing with this enchanting look from Dior’s latest haute couture Autumn-Winter 2016-17 fashion show, which took place in July. Peter Philips, Dior makeup creative and image director, created each look with a strong emphasis on the eyes. Bold, graphic liner was the order of the day, with Philips saying: “I wanted to create, for more than 40 looks, a free variation on eyeliner. It was a challenge to customise the look each time in an unusual and audacious way, creating makeup that was made-to-measure, just like haute-couture is.”
For some of the models, gold, lacquered lids mimicked the touches of the gold décor at the historic Dior headquarters and venue of the show, 30 Avenue Montaigne, Paris. Philips says he “envisaged these looks as punctuation, using Dior Addict Fluid Shadow Phenix, applied with a brush in broad gold colour-blocking, to obtain a dramatic, gold, textured effect.” In addition, eyebrows were groomed and defined with one of two products, either the All-in-Brow 3D kit or the Diorshow Brow Styler. In Philips’s words, this created an “elegantly classic counterpoint to these extreme graphic effects”.
