Claudia Moruzzi’s sleepwear brand, created in 2015, has already become a highly covetable local must-have. “I was studying fashion with no clear idea of what I really wanted to design,” she explains. Then, “it clicked” that sleepwear was where her focus needed to be. “I realised that if I was looking for great sleepwear, then others must be too,” she says, “life is tough enough as it is, so you have to have a soft place to fall. There’s no point getting Egyptian cotton for my bed, only to put poor quality fabrics right against my skin.”
Her collections are much inspired by silhouettes from previous decades like the 1920s and 1940s) . “I love researching fashion history — I find it fascinating,” the designer says. Moruzzi’s garments emanate with a a dreamy, nostalgic feel and an old-style romance. “I wanted to recreate some of those looks that hark back to slower, simpler times. When you had time to brush your hair a hundred strokes and sit by the fire until it burnt low, with a dog snoring at your feet.” she says.

Her sleepwear collection features exceptional fabrics, both pretty floral, striped and plain, sourced from various countries. Think considered playsuits, pyjamas and gowns, sometimes with a kimono-like feel or oriental twist and even occasionally an androgynous edge, which combines whimsy and practicality. Her winter collection is currently in production.
