The grooming staples you are never without? My hair clipper. I keep my head bald, so I go to the barber at least twice a week with my clipper. It always gives me a close shave. The guy’s name is Patrick.
Your all-time favourite gadget? My iPhone. My work and life revolves around it. I do everything on my phone, from checking mail to using a variety of apps that make my life easier. I am not much of a social media guy as of late, but I use my phone for just about everything else.
The single object you would never part with? I would still say my phone.
Your favourite drink? I love my Jack Daniels and coke. I know a lot of whisky connoisseurs think it is sacrilegious to mix whisky with anything, but I cannot drink whisky neat, as I find it too harsh.
The restaurant you frequent most often? I love Pigalle. I took my wife there on our first date, and she loves it as well. It’s a special place for both of us. I love the shellfish platter.
Your personal style signifier? My shoes. I have hundreds of pairs of shoes and I know that does not sound right for a man, but I believe that my shoes define my style. I love the brand Moreschi.
The last thing you bought and loved? I bought my wife a BMW GT as a surprise gift and now I drive it more than she does. It’s a sexy, yet unpretentious machine.
Your favourite timepiece? I love my Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch. It is the only expensive watch I own, and it took me a few times going to look at it in the store to come to terms with the expense. I love the design and quality of it.
An unforgettable place you’ve visited in the past year? I travelled to Ko Samui in Thailand a couple years ago, and I found it incredibly beautiful and relaxing. It was my first vacation by myself and it was the perfect place to rejuvenate.
The book on your bedside table? I love reading books about how people or
companies found success. It inspires me. On my bedside table, I have Alibaba’s World by Porter Erisman.
The last meal that truly impressed you? One of my mentors is amazing in the kitchen. I had lunch at his home recently that was really delicious. It’s one of my guilty pleasures, but I can say that he makes a killer oxtail dish.
The last music you downloaded? I am a huge hip hop fan and my last download was the Drake and Future’s collaboration album, What a Time to be Alive.
What are you eyeing next? My next extended vacation. I have a young family now, and I look forward to relaxing and giving my full attention to them.
The one thing you will always find in your fridge? Pressed vegetable juices. I like the idea of drinking something that is tasty and also good for me.
The best gift you’ve received? It’s a tie between my son and my new daughter. I live for them.
The place that inspires you and why? I went to prep school at Phillips Exeter in New Hampshire in the US, and whenever I visit the school, I am inspired by the smart and intelligent young people that love the learning process.
A recent special discovery? Plettenberg Bay is such a beautiful place and I look forward to spending more vacation time there.
The last item you added to your wardrobe? I added a new pair of Diego Vanassibara loafers that I bought in a small boutique in London. I love New York. You can find anything in the city — great museums, amazing restaurants, riveting Broadway shows, and more. I was lucky to start my career in New
York, as it is a very competitive environment, and the lessons from my early years there have served me well throughout my career.

The one indulgence you would never forgo? A good spa treatment. There is nothing better than a great massage after a hectic period of work and travel. I love the spa at The Saxon Hotel, as it has a relaxed environment and the facilities are world class.
