The Autumn Winter 2016 collection at Prada in Milan broke all sorts of fashion boundaries. Miuccia Prada teamed up with Christophe Chemin, (a self-taught French artist whose work cannot be categorised; rather, it’s a wondrous cultivation of several mediums that breaks limits), and created both women’s and men’s collections that were bold, eclectic, and theatrical. Several looks included prints created by the artist himself. Chemin describes this project as looking at the past and questioning the history of our world.
“There is something about the past, about looking at what is considered ‘old’, that is both romantic and absolutely contemporary,” he says. It seems only fitting then, that one of contemporary films’s most celebrated artists, Eddie Redmayne, was selected as the face of Prada’s AW16 Menswear collection. Romance, mystery, masculinity, and the illusion of time are all evinced in this collection, and it certainly holds Prada as a fashion house to be reckoned with.

Prints charming
British suitmaker Simon Carter heads for both town and country in this year’s spring summer collection. We rather fancy the new range of shirts, featuring a series of witty prints that positively steal the show.The shirts are injected with Carter’s customary flair: those for the country boy are a cornucopia of root vegetables, fungi, floral, and leaf prints, complemented by birds and bees, plus a veritable colony of beetles. For the urbanite, the choice is whimsical, from historic hats and shoes to elegant townhouses and a spectacular matrix of robots. There’s only one problem: you’ll want them all.

TIME TRAVEL
