Superyacht MY B0nd Girl, from the ocean with love
A design team have come up with an unusual yacht design inspired by the James Bond movies

James Bond likes to make a big entrance, although Daniel Craig’s latest dramatic arrival in No Time to Die was somewhat delayed due to the pandemic. Not his fault of course and he could not blame Q for this one, or that he’d forgotten to wind his Omega. Bond is rarely late and when he is it’s usually because his journey is interrupted by an evil villain or by another Bond Girl.
But what if it is the Bond Girl that is responsible for ensuring he makes his dramatic entrance? In this case we aren’t actually talking about a girl at all, but MY B0nd Girl, a trimaran yacht concept penned by designers George Lucian and Hannah Hombergen.
Measuring 70m, the concept looks radically different to anything that would normally be called a superyacht. We’d even go so far as to say it’s more evil Spectre than elegant Casino Royale. Sorry, but Bond puns are unavoidable at this point, although I’ll try to keep them to a minimum.
The gun-metal grey coloured exterior is extremely dramatic, all evil and sinister but at the same time neat and well polished. It definitely has presence, like many of the bad Bond Girls perhaps, famous names like Mayday (Grace Jones) in A View to a Kill or Miranda Frost (Rosamund Pike) in Die Another Day.

The MY B0nd Girl hasn’t yet been commissioned, but Lucian has a penchant for designing yachts that take inspiration from the military, aviation and space, and many of these elements can be seen in this latest design. Over the years he has created a few other extreme ideas, such as the Dare to Dream, which was a dramatic platform that could carry an airship, because sometimes a helipad is just too subtle. He and Hombergen have even penned a New York skyscraper, named The Vertical Yacht because of it’s yacht-like interiors.
At a predicted cost of over $100m, it’s unlikely that B0nd Girl will ever be built, but in the world of superyachts where money is often no object, we would never say never again.
