Swapping Hollywood for Bienne, Omega ambassador George Clooney recently dropped by the brand’s new factory in Switzerland to explore its state-of-the-art watchmaking.

The new facilities were opened in 2017 and this was the actor’s first chance to see exactly how and where Omega completes its famous timepieces. On a special tour with Raynald Aeschlimann, president and CEO of Omega, and Nick Hayek, CEO of Swatch Group, Clooney was able to discover the five floors of space used for all of the brand’s watch assembly, training and quality control.

There was also an up-close look at the METAS (The Federal Institute of Metrology) testing area for Master Chronometer certification. It is here that Omega certifies its watches at the industry’s highest standard for precision, performance and magnetic resistance.

Omega says Clooney has been a true fan of Omega watches since childhood. The Speedmaster, in particular, has been his choice for many years and he reportedly wore the Aqua Terra during his wedding celebrations and the white gold De Ville Trésor at the wedding ceremony in 2014.
