1. CRIMINAL: UK, CRIMINAL: SPAIN, CRIMINAL: GERMANY AND CRIMINAL: FRANCE

The fact that all the episodes play out in a police interrogation room — and sometimes around the coffee machine — makes for riveting watching.

2. EUPHORIA

Euphoria is the unexpected surprise entry for 2019. It’s refreshing and quite shocking in its unapologetic depiction of modern teenagehood. Adapted from the original Israeli drama of the same same, the show tackles sex, drugs, identity and more, with a suitably stellar soundtrack that features Anderson Paak, Labrinth, Air Supply, Donny Hathaway and Missy Elliot, among others. Not to be dismissed as just another teen-drama series.

3. MADE IN MEXICO

Watchers should be under no illusion that Made in Mexico is a reflection of the average Mexican, but as you know, watching self-obsessed characters makes for fascinating and addictive viewing.

4. SUCCESSION

5. OZARK

Ozark’s next instalment might only be out next year but for those of you who haven’t watched, you have two nail-biting, worth-your-time seasons to binge. It’s basically about relationships, money-laundering, murder, and drugs. What’s not to love?
