DAVID DOWNTON FOR MICHAEL KORS

I’ve always had a soft spot for fashion illustrations: It’s fashion seen through an artist’s eyes and they have a knack of capturing just that one key silhouette that perfectly represents a designer, a season, a trend – that stays in my mind’s eye forever.

David Downton’s one of the best in the business and you would have seen many of his illustrations in Vogue. Now Downton’s collaborated with Michael Kors to create whimsical fabrics for a few of the looks in the US designers AW 18 collection – but more significantly for a range of handbags that are certain to become collectables.

THE STORER, 44 STANLEY, JOHANNESBURG

In the last issue of Business Day Wanted, we featured Lisa Storer, the brains and the eye behind The Storer, a new lifestyle emporium at 44 Stanley in Milpark, Johannesburg.

This delightful shop is what Anthropology was like in the beginning: A feast of décor, fashion, accessories, furniture, jewellery – and ideas – that will have you fantasising about jumping onto the next flight to Cambodia.

I’m most definitely a closet nomad and love to live vicariously through the lives of those who travel the world collecting beautiful things. The Storer gets it just right.

NUXE BODY OIL

I think I’m the last person to discover the luxury of Nuxe body oil. It’s a dry oil, if you can imagine that, that smells heavenly and sinks into your skin with the most glorious moisturising effect. The fragrance is a soft floral – not overly sweet – with a hint of citrus. It literally feels like sunshine in a bottle.

APEROL

And while on the subject of sunshine, I’ve also come to the delights of Aperol Spritz rather late in life – despite spending two weeks in Italy last summer and never tasting the electric orange cocktail that everyone around me was drinking.

It just reminded me too much of Campari – which I’ve never been able to drink. Aperol is NOTHING like Campari and a lot less sweet than Pimms. Combined with crispy dry prosecco and a dash of soda, it is dangerously more-ish!

FOPÉ

And speaking of things Italian, the most famous snake chain the world, Fopé, is available on our shores – at Elegance Jewellers. The kind of jewellery you never take off, it’s an Italian classic that I suspect is about to have a serious revival.
