I think I speak for all ladies when I say, the last few months of this extraordinary year have left us frazzled. Working from home, teaching your kids, worrying about finances and still trying to keep life going — it’s a lot. Actually, that doesn’t even begin to cover it. I wake up at 3am and lie in bed running through endless to-do lists, but stress manifests in so many ways, and none of us escape it.

With this in mind, the Wanted and Woolworths teams wondered how we could help. We know all our female customers and readers need some hard-earned respite — a small moment of decompression and enjoyment.

So we’ve gathered up our favourite girl gang. A team of fiercely smart, cool, inspirational and kind women who are eager to help us find ways to relax, to escape and to find calm and joy. Needless to say, we’d really like you to join us.

Gorgeous recipes and gathering around a table for a meal with those you love goes a long way to creating happiness and relaxation.

On Thursday, August 20 at 6.30pm, I invite you to grab a glass of wine, put on your sweatpants and join me, Amanda Dambuza, Joy Phala, Catherine Bothner and Hina Rahman Reynolds as we take a look at how to create the perfect Zen.

You all know Dambuza as the brilliant, bubbly businesswoman (she’s non-executive director of a number of JSE-listed companies) and author. Her life experience and exuberance for the world around make her the perfect person to offer practical advice and real motivation to us all. I speak from experience when I say, a few minutes of conversation with Dambuza is like being wrapped in a great, big hug of feel-good.

And I dare you to not be inspired by the work landscaper Joy Phala’s acclaimed Organic Kitchen Gardens. You just know that a person who spends her time in nature and who has devoted her life to create food gardens and green spaces is the kind of person whose energy you want too.

These two will offer their thoughts and wise words but we’ve also got the power house duo of Bothner and Rahman Reynolds from Woolworths to dish out loads of practical, heart-filled advice.

Bothner is the head of product for the Woolworths Food brand and so comes with mountains of knowledge on trends, insights and strategies. Of course we’ll be discussing food and with it, eating for wellness and enjoyment, but this won’t just be a conversation about carrot sticks. Gorgeous recipes and gathering around a table for a meal with those you love goes a long way to creating happiness and relaxation, after all. Needless to say, we’ll definitely be asking her more about what trends she thinks will arise post-Covid.

Trend consultant Rahman Reynolds will spill on all the fun stuff! We’ll talk about ways to make your home a space of calm and happiness and the importance of looking after yourself and your body (I know, I know — it’s often what you sacrifice first). And she’s not getting off the hook from me about what she thinks our lives will be like post-Covid. I can’t wait to hear some of her thoughts.

Take a deep breath and see you then.
