It’s probably evident from the images on this page that I’ve got huge plans to do very little this holiday. My plan is to maximise summer by lazing at home, reading and taking long walks, and even longer lunches.

Loungewear: I’d like chic pyjamas to loll (and LOL) about in all day long. The ones I have my eyes on come from luxury British brands Derek Rose and Chinti & Parker. You can add your monogram to the Derek Rose set online and have them sent in the post. Easy!

Beauty products: I’m mad about Australian brand Aesop, which you can buy from Cape Town’s Loading Bay (or online). The Resurrection Aromatique Hand Wash is an essential in my house, but it’s a new bottle of the soft and spicy Marrakech Intense Eau de Toilette that I’d love as a spoil.

Plants: Extended home time means I must be surrounded by plants. Cape Town urban nursery Plantify does gorgeous indoor greens and baskets into which I can pop them. All can be ordered online — and delivered to your house too.

Art: I’m totally hooked on this work by Katherien de Villiers. It’s called Divine Intervention and is from her recent show at Smith Studio.

Books: The dangerously teetering pile of books next to my bed could be worsened with the new Philip Pullman, Anna Hope, Rachel Cusk, and Bernardine Evaristo releases.

Decor: In full homebody mode, I’ve got my eye on a classic Alessi Graves stovetop kettle from @home; a cracking durry carpet from Weylandts, which reminds me of my trip to Tunisia last year; a hand-woven Welsh blanket (a nod to my heritage) from London store Labour and Wait; and the PanAm lounge chair and stool from Tonic.

Jewellery: Which woman doesn’t want to find a sparkler or two under the tree? The beautiful Fope bracelet (from Charles Greig Jewellers) is what Santa needs to source for me, please.

Whisky: A wee dram is my default drink. Anyone fancy gifting a bottle of The Singleton 12-Year-Old? We can have a couple of glasses together…

Pets: My dog nieces are rescue Chihuahuas from NPO Tiny Paws SA, and Aida, Luci, Peggy, Betty, and Frida would love this rattan bed when they come to visit. It’s by Justin van Breda, who created it with British designer Nina Campbell and weavers from our own Society for the Blind.
