Did you know, that Elvis Presley wore a Hamilton Ventura (the world’s first electric watch) in the film Blue Hawaii in 1961? This is when the brand’s relationship with the film industry began. Not long after, in 1966, Stanley Kubrick approached the company to develop timepieces for his film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The trend for Hamilton’s inclusion in futuristic films has become commonplace, with associations with films such as Men in Black, Lethal Weapon 4, Fight Club, Independence Day, and Interstellar.

In 2016 the brand is introducing a new modern and sporty line called Broadway, which takes its inspiration from the New York Theatre District. It’s not the first time Hamilton has used the famous street as a reference in its timepieces — its first series of pocket watches in the 1890s was known as “Broadway Limited”.

Three versions sum up this range: the 40mm Day Date Quartz option, a 42mm Day Date Automatic option, and a 43mm Auto Chrono. Some features include power reserves ranging between 60 and 80 hours; clean, sleek black dial faces; smooth leather straps with visible stitching; and a red-tipped seconds hand. The line is youthful, urban, outdoor, sporty, and ideal if you’re after a contemporary watch with a distinctive nod to the world of theatre.

  • The Auto Chrono option comes with an extra-sporty bezel tachymeter scale.
  • The Day Date Auto has a 6 o’clock calendar position — a user-friendly display of the day of the week and the date.
  • The Day Date Quartz includes a solid back, a design ode to the iconic New York drain covers.
