ELECTRIC MINI

It’s amazing that it has taken this long, but Mini has finally revealed an electric version of its popular hatch. The car that seems most suitable to urban electric-car living will only arrive in SA in 2021 with a range of up to 231km from its 32.6 kWh batteries. It looks every bit the Mini and has a few unique design features, including electrical socket-looking wheels. Mini says it will hit 100km/h in 7.3 seconds and handle just as well as its siblings.

PORSCHE 911

The latest generation of the iconic Porsche 911 has landed in SA. Its design is evolutionary, but there are key elements to make it fit in with the modern Porsche family. These include the LED light bar at the rear and the button to start the new 3.0-litre engines of the Carrera S and 4S. This new version of the most famous sports car is powerful and efficient, and with its unique Wet Mode, perhaps a little more protective too.

VW T-CROSS

Crossovers are all the rage, and the latest to join in the pseudo-4x4 fight is the Volkswagen T-Cross. Based on the latest generation of the Polo, it includes plenty of personalisation options as well as the usual trim lines. Expect it to be a popular sight outside trendy cafés around South Africa when it launches here in a few months’ time.
