THE LAUNCH OF WOOLWORTHS STYLE BY SA
The launch of Woolworths “Style by SA” collection earlier this year was a big feat for local fashion and has continued to exceed fashion lovers expectations since. Not only do these capsule collections support and promote local designers like Rich Mnisi, Thebe Magugu, Selfi & Maria McCloy, they also make buying local, a fashionable and affordable option for consumers – what’s not to love?

THEBE MAGUGU’S DEBUT SOLO OUTING
Emerging, young designer, Thebe Magugu presented his first solo collection earlier this year and exceeded expectations with an exceptional debut. Magugu has been one to watch since his first runway appearance on AFI Fastrack and has made a name for himself as one of the best young, local designers to wear in 2017 with two must-have solo collections and numerous capsule collections for Woolworths “Style by SA” through the year.

RUFF TUNG CELEBRATE DIVERSITY ON THE RUNWAY
Earlier this year, local brand, Ruff Tung, took strides in breaking the body image mould on the runway with one of the most size diverse shows of the year. Diversity in the fashion has been a highly debated issue in the last few years, so bravo to our local diversity champions.

MARIANNE FASSLER’S MEMORABLE COLLECTION
As far as memorable shows go, Marianne Fassler’s Resort 2017/18 collection was one of the top shows to remember from the 2017 runway seasons. The collection was a vibrant show of ultra wearable, summer silhouettes peppered with chicken feet and abstract animal print motifs, bright contrasting check prints, bold coloured painterly stripes, and floral embroidery – making for an incredibly enticing summer wardrobe.
