Philipp Plein’s luxury sportswear label, Plein Sport has landed on SA shores. The luxury sportswear apparel brand, owned by German fashion designer and entrepreneur, Philipp Plein, which launched in 2016, has since taken to the global stage and is now available for SA’s fit and fashionable shoppers.

Created for the discerning, active individual who wants high end fitness apparel, Plein Sport features edgy, versatile and durable sport and leisure attire, footwear and accessories that combine fashion with high tech fabrication and cutting edge manufacturing technologies.

Inspired by sport extremists who push boundaries and test their physical limits, Plein Sports ethos; “Survival of the fittest”, is signified by the tiger motif that features throughout the collections.

Philipp Plein rose to fashion fame when he launched his eponymous brand in 2004 with his high impact, hard to miss collections and next level fashion shows. But For the well known fashion designer, fashion was not the initial plan. Plein began studying law then decided to switch to furniture design. As a furniture designer, Plein’s signature style was defined by graphic pieces made of stainless steel. His biggest seller – a crocodile-skin-covered steel table, put his name on the map. When Plein decided to use leftover leather to create leather bags and bought and decorated old military jackets with crystal skulls, too to dress his stands and rails at trade fairs, fashion enthusiasts and buyers took notice and Philipp Plein the luxury fashion brand was born.

Since then, Philipp Plein has become a fashion week regular with his signature crystal embellished collections of graphic T-shirts, leather jackets and distressed denims, presented in catwalk extravaganzas that have in the past featured swimming pools, jet skis and monster trucks and performances by famous rappers. His most recent Spring/Summer 2018 show, stayed true to Philipp Plein style with the audience being served burgers and champagne and entertained with performances by Dita Von Teese and rapper Future and an unforgettable catwalk appearance by Teyana Taylor.

Plain Sport is one of three brands including Philipp Plein and Billionaire, under the Philipp Plein International Group. Hopefully, Plein Sport’s arrival is sign that the flagship Philipp Plein brand is heading our way.
