Louis Vuitton revealed its Spring-Summer 2017 collection at Paris Fashion Week recently, capturing the essence of Paris in a collection that was described as somewhere between theatricality and aesthetism.

Anyone who knows Paris will know the Right Bank and Left Bank of the city each have their own sartorial particularities and creative sensibilities. The maison’s newest collection was all about showcasing the fashionable atmosphere of Paris; a capital at the convergence of all fashions;” a magnificent vortex that absorbs all the artistic ideals from around the world,” the show notes said.

The Spring-Summer collection took place at Louis Vuitton’s new physical home, number 2 Place Vendome, and referenced a time when the location had a different name: the Place des Conquêtes (“square of conquests”).

The show notes explained: “The Maison Louis Vuitton, nestled in the capital, Paris, populated by women whose long jersey dresses float as they move, dream of triumphing in tailored suit, dazzled with seductive rainbow python, adorned with a whisper of “Epi flame” embroidered on “caviar lace”. Lovers of intellectual complicity, they sport fanciful t-shirts that reference the heads of the 18th-century fauns decorating the façade of 2 Place Vendôme.”
