1. MAKE MASKING A RITUAL

Up until now, masking has been a nice activity to do to while passing the time or waiting for dinner to be ready. It’s time to make masking part of your skincare ritual in order to give your skin a serious boost.  Cut down on your need to always go for facials and treat your skin concerns at home once a week, whether it is dehydration, radiance, congestion or anti-aging, there is a mask for everything - so get masking.

2. GET SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR RETINOL

Retinol has been a skincare secret weapon for beauty editors everywhere and it’s time to get in the know.  A powerful ingredient for treating dullness in texture, pigmentation and boosting collagen, retinol increases cell turnover and regeneration.  Invest in a product that has an encapsulated retinol formula to avoid any sensitivity when exposed to sun and combine it with a vitamin C antioxidant serum or moisturiser for your best skin yet.

3. FIND YOUR POWER RED

It may sound like a cliché but red is truly a confidence boosting hue that all women should have in their beauty arsenal.  Most women battle to find their signature red due to lack of knowledge about their undertone complement or just the fear of wearing such a bold colour.  Start experimenting and getting to know your undertone; if you have a warm or yellow undertone, experiment with red shades with a more orange tint and you have a red or pink undertone, try a red with a bluish undertone.

4. CLEAN YOUR BRUSHES REGULARLY

If your makeup kit is full of foundation coated brushes creating a breeding ground for bacteria - quickly jot this resolution down and commit.  Let’s be honest – no one likes to clean their makeup brushes as its feels like a tedious chore and is seldom top of mind.  The reality is that applying makeup with dirty brushes causes breakouts and can take your skin care journey a few steps back.  Schedule it with your weekly mask session and use a little amount of shampoo or brush cleanser milked through your brush hairs once a week to get rid of makeup residue.

5. DON’T SKIP THAT EYE CREAM

Those youthful bright eyes won’t last forever unless you give a little TLC to your eye area.  From the age of 25, every woman should be using an eye cream or gel every day to keep the delicate eye skin, hydrated and improve circulation.  Go for eye creams with hyaluronic acid as an ingredient to intensely hydrate the skin and boost collagen production.  Pat in lightly with your ring fingers or use a cooling metal rolling applicator to reduce puffiness and encourage circulation.
