Melrose Arch is home to South Africa’s first Jamie’s Italian and it delivers on international levels of quality and deliciousness. The space is vast, with various pockets and corners in which to sit, drink, and salivate over the menu. It’s not fine dining, but hearty and wholesome platters, called Planks; and fresh, home-made pasta is the plat du jour. Try the Silky Spaghetti Carbonara, which has tiny bursts of crispy, smoky pancetta dotted throughout and is topped with cracked black pepper and Parmesan. The best part? Walk-ins are encouraged, with plenty of space set aside for you to amble on in.
