1. THE BEWITCHING BOTANIST

The Botanist Islay Dry Gin is ridiculously smooth. Gliding over the palate like a figure skater, it leaves only the loveliest traces of menthol, apple mint, coriander, and summer meadows. It offers a melody of Islay’s natural bounty and its wave-battered shores.

5. RICKETY BRIDGE STANDS STRONG

Rickety Bridge, the Franschhoek Valley wine estate, has been honoured with a coveted five-star rating and joint Best Semillon Award in the 2020 Platter’s South African Wine Guide. The wine in the spotlight, The Pilgrimage 2017, is a limited edition produced from old vines that grow in a heritage vineyard block. The tiny yields are then whole-bunch pressed and naturally fermented before being matured for 11 months in a combination of foudre (large) and older 500-litre barrels. Rich and intense, yet fresh, it’s perfectly dry on the finish.

6. PAMPELLE BY THE POOL

A new summer aperitif has just arrived from the sun-drenched French island of Corsica. Pampelle is made from handpicked grapefruits distilled three ways, and its bitter-sweet taste pairs exquisitely with a good tonic and a handful of ice. Best enjoyed alongside lazy alfresco meals and splashes from a swimming pool.
