Uplift local artisans by supporting Pernod Ricard’s festive Phakamisa ispirit campaign

Propose a toast to philanthropy with Pernod Ricard’s Phakamisa ispirit (lift the spirit) campaign this festive season.

Your spirit will be certainly lifted when you receive one of three complimentary gifts with your purchase of a bottle of Jameson Select Reserve Irish whiskey, Ballantine’s Finest Blended Scotch whisky, The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve Single Malt Scotch whisky, Chivas Regal 12YO Blended Scotch whisky, and Beefeater London Dry gin.

Even more so, when you discover that part of the proceeds will go towards uplifting Mzansi’s gifted makers and the creation of up to 1,000 local jobs.

Pernod Ricard has invested R38m into the Phakamisa ispirit campaign which, in partnership with the Gauteng department of economic development (GDED), will provide artisans with the training and resources they need to grow their businesses.

This includes access to Seta-accredited courses covering business management, manufacturing, technology and accounting.

The City of Ekurhuleni municipality has also donated a warehouse in Thokoza, which is being converted into a woodworking workshop for about 20 artisans. Here, they’ll have access to a range of machinery as well as a virtual showroom, enabling them to photograph and market their creations online.

This shared creative space will also provide the makers with the opportunity to create co-ops to help them take advantage of large-scale business opportunities. 

In partnership with the GDED, Pernod Ricard plans to establish five such workshops across Gauteng in the next five years, accommodating about 100 artisans.

The wine and spirits seller says it aims to grow makers’ businesses to ultimately create up to 1,000 new jobs across all its workshops.
