A shopping centre in Constantia may not be an obvious place to find some of the Cape’s most exciting food, but we don’t make the rules. Fact is, Foxcroft should be on your Mother City hit list, with chef Glen Williams — middle name, Foxcroft — and his team turning out a remarkable menu of inspired small plates.

You’ll find four- and eight-course menus on offer; the thread between both a focus on hyper-seasonality and sustainability. That’s well and good, but it doesn’t come at the cost of creativity. See the simple bread course, piping hot in a ceramic dish, of crispy focaccia folded over flavour-packed olive tapenade. Medallions of yellow-fin tuna swim atop lively salsa macha and pickled radish. Plump West-Coast mussels rest in a moreish broth (save some of that bread). Dessert? You’ll long remember the elegant take on a poached pear.
