Paying homage to the art of movement and echoing the house’s long standing relationship with the performing arts, luxury maison Christian Dior has partnered with several master Parisian ballet dancers for exclusive lessons, in an attempt to “awaken the senses lulled by lockdown’’.

A spokesperson for the house said, “This slice of escapism provides a compelling taste of the hypnotic discipline treasured by Monsieur Dior… take advantage of this opportunity to learn how to feel and respond to the music, how to improvise, and how to perfect some key positions.”

The online classes (suitable for any dance level and available for free on Dior’s Instagram and YouTube accounts) will be conducted by principal ballet star Friedemann Vogel together with Eleonora Abbagnato, Germain Louvet, and Sébastien Bertaud, from the ballet of the Opéra national de Paris.

The allure of ballet also lives on through the work of Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s current womenswear creative director. Most recently, Chiuri designed the costumes for the ballet show Nuit Blanche. “Dance in all its forms and variations is a very important frame of reference for me,” says Chiuri. “It fascinates and inspires me, because it gives the body and its possibilities a central role.”

Here is yet another innovative element of escapism to help you pirouette your way out of the madness, if only for a moment.
