It’s time to book for The Winter Sculpture Fair at Nirox – undoubtedly one of the most popular day’s out in the country on the Johannesburg art calendar.

This year’s Sculpture Fair takes place on the Mother’s Day weekend – 13th and 14th May 2017 – and promises two days of spectacular art, plus the best food and wine from the Cape. The beautiful surroundings of the Nirox sculpture park ensure a glorious day out.

Organisers Artlogic have teamed up with Franschhoek Tourism to bring the best food and wine from the famed Cape valley to Johannesburg for The Winter Sculpture Fair. Top restaurants and wineries will set up shop alongside artisanal cheese, charcuterie and chocolate stands and visitors will be able to buy goods from over 40 exhibitors to tailor-make their own picnic experience.

In addition to new works from some of the country’s top sculptors, this year the Nirox Foundation is partnering with six South African universities for the winter exhibition, each appointing a curator who will select artists under the age of 35 from their graduates.

Exhibiting universities are Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), University of Cape Town (UCT), University of Johannesburg (UJ), University of Pretoria (UP), University of South Africa (UNISA) and University of Witwatersrand (WITS).

Tickets are R165 and can be purchased online only, through tixsa. Children 12 and under are free. Space is limited, so book soon to avoid disappointment.
